It is time for an another update on our line-up for the 2020/2021 season! Wiktoria Kuczyńska, one of the most talented Polish young basketball players, member of the Polish national team for the U-16 and U-18 Women Polish Championships MVP in 2018, is staying in Gorzów! During this season, Wiki - a high school graduate - made her debut in Energa Basket Liga Kobiet. She scored the average of 16.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.8 rebounds in the first league, as well as 9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists in the U-22 Women Polish Championships.

“I am very happy that Wiktoria Kuczyńska trusts us and wants to continue her basketball development in our Club. After graduating from our Sports Championship Academic High School, she was offered a contract and took advantage of it. She is one of the most talented young Polish basketball players in a position of a point guard as well as a Polish national team member in different age groups. We would like her to succeed Kasia Dźwigalska. I hope our captain will support Wiki and show her the right track to follow in order to be successful in senior basketball. Not only when it comes to sport-related aspects but also the right mindset,” said coach Dariusz Maciejewski.

“In this season Wiki has already made her debut for the Polish top league. In the new season, if she works hard during practice sessions, she will get more minutes on the court. Our coaches know her strengths and weaknesses considering her basketball skills. We know what we need to work on to introduce Wiki into senior basketball,” added coach Maciejewski.

Wiki comes from Tarnów and does not hide the fact that Gorzów was the first place she thought of when it comes to where she would like to continue her career. Therefore, she signed a new contract without a second thought. Three years ago, she chose AZS and still believes that this place is a good choice for her basketball development.

“I have been in Gorzów for three years now and I know that this is a good place for my further basketball development. I am glad that during all this time I earned trust of the coaches who still believe in me despite the fact that the season was not the best because it meant returning to basketball after a severe knee injury. Gorzów is a safe place for me and I hope that the upcoming season will be successful both for us as a team and individually,” said Wiktoria Kuczyńska.
